In cooperation with IESL-FORTH Heraklion, the research team conducted a series of tests in the HKB laboratory from 14-25 March 2011. Test paintings were subjected to “real” shock and vibration emissions given by the simulation device. The team uses Digital Holographic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (DHSPI) to document and visualize any structural changes after the simulated journey. The findings form the basis for determining the safety limits when transporting fragile paintings.
