Information and working meeting involving the research team, business partners and project partners from museums. Participants also included interested specialists from the worlds of conservation, restoration and museum technology.
The event focused on presenting the results of new measurements to assess the capacity of widely used transport packaging systems to dampen shock and vibration emissions. One series of measurements involved test journeys in trucks carried out by professional art transporters (business partners). The test paintings were equipped with a specifically calibrated monitoring system and transported in a representative selection of packagings from the business partners (bubble wrap, cardboard, Fast Art boxes, transport frames and double-insulated packing cases). Laboratory experiments were carried out in parallel with the field measurements. Here, the emphasis was on testing the cushioning materials used. Evaluation of the results is important for the optimization and development of new packaging systems. The event also included a discussion, which produced constructive suggestions and questions from the business partners and specialists based on their practical experiences that can flow into the research project.
