The research team described the series of measurements carried out to test the damping behaviour of a large number of different materials using the new shaker, and presented proposals for a new packaging system as well as a comprehensive monitoring approach for practical use. The aims are to reduce the amplification of vibrations by components of the packaging, and to reliably assess the performance of the packaging when transporting paintings. The participants then discussed the next steps, which include further laboratory experiments, the production of packaging prototypes, and the development of a monitoring service concept together with a review of its effectiveness in operation.
