Transport Miro

When transporting a large painting by Juan Mirò from Basel (Beyeler Foundation) to New York (MoMA), the measuring technique was tested out. Induced shock and vibration emissions were measured on the decorative frame, vibrations of the textile support were also measured.   The transport concept of the Beyeler Foundation restorers (managed by Markus Gross (BA in Restoration)) decided on a slightly tiled container for the painting due to the particular features of the painting (pronounced local application of plaster to the painting on a textile support).  The selected vibration damping method proved efficient.  The results are assessed on an ongoing basis as a benchmark within the ongoing CTI project.
